Canon Point: After her adventures in the mirror universe, and on the Satellite of Love
History: Liz lived a quiet life in Wisconsin with her parents and older brother. Not much too exciting really happened to her until one fateful summer when she was sitting in her room and suddenly there was a bad sound effect and she found herself in an alternate universe, in someone else's room, on a green futon. That futon just so happened to belong to a Minnesotan comic book reviewer, Linkara. Understandably awkward finding a strange woman on his couch, Linkara helped her get settled in this new dimension, and the two of them began to hit it off and ultimately became a couple. A very strange, nerdy, bantering couple.
Upon getting acquainted with her new surroundings, Liz started her own review series, Iron Liz's Pen and Paper Corner - the name Iron Liz a tribute to the band Iron Maiden - in which she discussed various tabletop RPGs. A few episodes in, however, that project was put on hold when she received a time-delayed video message from Linkara; he had disappeared from his home, kidnapped by someone calling himself Lord Vyce, and he entrusted his show to her while his robot buddy Pollo worked to get him back. She hosted the show for two weeks, when Vyce's ship was finally locked on and Linkara was beamed back down, along with several of Vyce's robotic minions, which Liz helped to fight off.
This kind of thing apparently happened quite often, as Linkara decided it was too dangerous for him to stay in his home anymore, and thus he and Liz moved into an apartment together, Liz ending up doing most of the unpacking. Life went back to normal for a while after that, but then it became clear that moving did nothing to keep evil from finding Linkara. It started with a wrathful being from Silent Hill, then Linkara's old enemy Mechakara returned, along with a doppelganger of Liz calling herself Judas Liz, and then Lord Vyce returned to finish what he started. Liz fought by Linkara's side the whole time, including attempting to coax him out of his crisis of faith when his first encounter with Vyce almost killed him, and she even inherited the power to morph like him thanks to his old Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers morpher.
After Vyce's defeat, things seemed to quiet down at last, except recently Linkara's friends Harvey Finevoice and the Ninja-Style Dancer had disappeared, and there was a strange eerie feeling in the apartment at night. Linkara hadn't seemed to notice it, but Liz regarded it with suspiciousness, remembering how Lord Vyce talked about some sort of Entity that he had been chasing. Judas Liz has yet to be seen either since Mechakara's destruction, a thought that worried Liz, knowing she could come back for her at any minute. But that had all been ignored for other matters at the time; Linkara had constructed an artificial intelligence to pilot Vyce's old ship which he claimed for his own. However, in the attempt to transfer the AI to the ship itself in the middle of an ion storm, Liz was teleported to yet another dimension; a mirror universe in which Linkara was evil - goatee and all - and planned to use his ship to take over the world. She escaped the mirror Linkara's attack with help from the champion of science, Dr. Insano, who then proceeded to send her home. However, instead of reaching her destination, no doubt due to the ion storm, the dimensional leap sent her to the cockpit of the Satellite of Love. Yes,
the Satellite of Love, as in from the TV show Mystery Science Theater 3000, and she's just as trapped as poor Mike Nelson and the bots and at the mercy of the scientists affectionately referred to as the Mads.
It turned out that she was not the only one this time; Linkara, 90s Kid, and several other people she didn't know were also teleported to the Satellite. None of the residents had any answers as to what happened, but Mike greeted them all and suggested that maybe if they kept the mood on the Satellite upbeat and do everything they can to boost morale, maybe eventually the Mads would let them go. Therefore Liz assisted in this cause by volunteering for the Mads' weekly experiments and, after a few hiccups, starting a weekly RPG campaign with some of the other residents. Life on the Satellite was never dull, things constantly changing every week to go with some sort of silly theme. But it wasn't all fun and games; something was immediately amiss when Liz and Linkara realized that they weren't even from the same time; Linkara almost half a year behind Liz, having not even christened the spaceship yet. Furthermore, the phenomenon that brought them all to the Satellite of Love wasn't done, taking some people aboard back and spitting more in, and one such soul that came in late was the missing Harvey Finevoice. He was visibly shaken and told Liz how he had seen the Entity for himself; it was real, and it had absorbed him. Unfortunately, there wasn't much that could be done with this information while they were still stuck in space.
Nor was there much time to absorb this information, as shortly after, a little after Christmas, in fact, the Satellite suddenly changed, looking more like it did in later seasons of the show than the early days. But never mind that, there were also strange specters wandering around the Satellite of Love, and they looked just like everybody on the Satellite, except dark and foreboding. In fact, only their counterparts could hear them when they spoke, and their only goal in life seemed to be giving their "light" selves a hard time and make things terrible in general for the Satellite of Love. They hurled insults at their doppelgangers, pushed them around, even attacked and tried to kill some of them, or even try to wreck the ship to kill everybody. But the most eerie part was how they seemed to know all of their counterparts' darkest secrets and fears, and every way to push their buttons. Liz's shade, as they referred to these dark specters, mocked her endlessly about how small she was compared to other internet critics like Linkara, calling her insignificant and accusing her of riding on Linkara's back to raise herself up when really he only wanted to keep her in his shadow. And on top of that, it brought up her fears about Judas Liz, saying that she was more powerful than a weak little nerd like her, and that she didn't stand a chance of defending herself should the assassin come back. Liz was all too happy to kill her dopple in the end, along with Harvey Finevoice's who attacked her shortly after.
The fears of obscurity awoken by the shades didn't end with their deaths. As the force behind the Satellite's strangeness caused everybody to turn into colorful cartoon ponies, a strange being called Discord appeared to wreck havoc, even manipulating ponies' minds and causing them to act strangely. Liz wasn't safe from this, as Discord mocked her and called her insignificant once again, and decided to make her stand out a little more by turning her cruel and contentious, turning on everybody she knew in the worst ways. In her warped state, she got into a fight with Linkara, blaming him for her lack of attention on the internet, claiming that he only saw her as a trophy only kept her around to boost ratings. Linkara insisted that that wasn't the case; he was her boyfriend because he cared about her, and he needed her; she was a strong, capable woman and that's what he loved about her. Then he brought the message home with a kiss, breaking her out of her hypnotized state. It's all very Disney-esque, really. Discord was later sealed in a book by some of the other residents on the Satellite.
Things settled down to their usual shenanigans for a while after that. After Linkara disappeared sometime later, Liz took it upon herself to take charge of most morale boosting activities and the general welfare of the Satellite. She continued to host RPG nights, ran an improv panel much in the style of Whose Line is it Anyway, and when the Satellite was on the verge of crashing into a space iceberg, she organized a group to go out in the small subpods and try to shoot be iceberg out of orbit.
After nearly a year and a half on the Satellite, a message was received by a former prisoner of the Mads, Joel Robinson. He explained that the source of the trouble was a device called the Twin-Screw Universal Controller, and he was on his way up to fix it. The Mads tried to shoot the Satellite and destroy it before Joel could get there, and Gypsy, the robot in charge of maintenance on the vessel, was forced to activate the interdimensional warp engine, causing the satellite to jump to another dimension. This happened a few times, including one unpleasant dimension that was yet another mirror universe, only this time Mike Nelson wore the hideous gold vest. Liz organized the few who were not affected in order to keep their mirrored friends from harming anyone while they figured out a way to get back to their own universe.
When they did make it back, one of the other robots found the Twin-Screw Universal Controller, and another transmission came in from Joel saying he had to turn around for repairs, but would be on his way back. In the meantime,
do not touch the Twin-Screw Universal Controller! This of course meant that everybody wanted to play with it, causing even more strangeness on the Satellite. Life went on while waiting for Joel, Liz hosted one last event outside of game nights; one big experiment with the entire gang, and soon everybody was sent back home to their original universe.
...except Liz, apparently, who instead woke up in Ponyville once again turned into a black mare.
Personality:Iron Liz is a cheerful, fun-loving person who describes herself as a maiden of metal with a soft side. She enjoys making, at the very least, acquaintances with new people, is a good listener and is extremely animated when in conversation, with a propensity for bad puns and innuendo. She has a good sense of humor and is easily amused, but that's not to say she's incapable of being serious when she needs to be; quite the contrary. She is no stranger to danger or struggle, and in such times she is fiercely loyal to those she loves, stopping at nothing to help and protect them. However with that loyalty, she also has a tendency to put a lot of pressure on herself; to her, knowing she could have done something and didn't or couldn't is the worst feeling in the world.
Liz is an honest person, sometimes brutally so. Be they about her own troubles or the flaws in someone else's thinking, she will speak up if she has something to say; she isn't even afraid to tell her own boyfriend when he's being an idiot. This is combined well with her genre-savvy nature and her ability to pay attention to her surroundings and notice things that some people don't, and under pressure she is often the calm voice of reason or sometimes even the one to take command and figure things out, like when she organized the meeting and security arrangements while everyone from the Satellite of Love was trapped in the mirror universe. On the other side of the coin, she has a hot temper that will result in aggressively speaking her mind if someone has pissed her off. Sure, she prefers diplomacy if she can manage it, but that has the unfortunate habit of not working where she comes from and she has no qualms with getting verbally and physically defensive if the situation demands it.
Liz has a habit of keeping her hands busy; she talks with them quite freely, often fiddles with something when she's depressed, and loves to play games, especially tabletop RPGs and children's card games (motorcycles optional). Her entire life has been molded by her love of gaming, medieval weaponry and heavy metal. She is hopelessly addicted to Mountain Dew and has a guilty pleasure for Sailor Moon and My Little Pony. ...Yeah, she is entirely on the other side of the fourth wall here, this mun is willing and in fact expects to make a permissions post about this matter, though she won't break the fourth wall directly and tell everypony they're fictional.
Liz's time on the Satellite of Love hasn't affected her all that much in the grand scheme of things, except to accent a few pre-existing traits. Learning that the Entity is real has caused her concern about it to grow stronger, and with Linkara gone she worries about whether her and Harvey's absence will affect the timeline, or if everything is REALLY wibbly-wobbly and they're still there with him. A few spats she's had with the over-protective Harvey have caused her to push a little harder to stand up for herself and get extremely defensive if she's held back from a situation because it's dangerous. Conversely though, she does her best to also not handle every situation alone and to organize groups together to help. The Shades and Discord have caused her to confront her fears of obscurity on the internet and her feelings of riding on Linkara's coattails to get this far, a matter that hasn't fully been resolved, but Linkara's assurance has at least pushed it again to the shadows, for now. With only 90s Kid and Harvey Finevoice around as familiar presences, she's also grown closer to them, especially Harvey; while she always considered him a father, their dynamic has grown stronger while they're basically all they have of home until they can go back, especially while Liz is already prone to homesickness about her family before she met Linkara.

SAMPLESFirst Person:Dear Princess Celestia,
In my past two years on the Satellite of Love, I've learned that you can find friends in high places! I have also learned that you should always expect the unexpected. I mean, who knew that I could be turned into a pony twice in a lifetime? But as long as my friends are with me, I can...
Okay, screw this, I can't keep up the charade that long. Anybody want to tell me how I got here? Last I recall, I was just brought down from a satellite, and we were all supposed to have been sent home. Was there another glitch with the Twin-Screw Universal Controller? And did anyone else make it over? Mister Finevoice? Aqua? Sora? Minako? If you guys get this, I'm over at Sugar Cube Corner, come find me!
--Iron Liz
Third Person: "Nightmare Night! What a fright! Give us something sweet to bite!"
The real fright here was how well rehearsed each group of foals that showed up at Liz's door was with that little jingle of theirs. She was bound to get sick of it sooner or later. But for now she just smiled, all dressed up in the Harley Quinn costume she commissioned from Rarity, and tipped a few sweets into their bags, watching as they scampered excitedly away to the next house.
Admittedly, she would have liked to have gone straight home from the Satellite of Love when the Twin-Screw Universal Controller was fixed, but it wasn't all that bad in Ponyville. At least nobody was in any immediate danger for the time being, and she could still take pleasure in the little things, like Halloween.
And no, she didn't care what pony-life-themed name and history they gave it, it was freaking Halloween. Her favorite time of year. Well...most of the time. As much as she enjoyed a good scare from a movie and dressing up in a fun costume and all the free candy she sometimes managed to mooch off of the neighbors despite being well out of her childhood, she couldn't help but remember the last Halloween she spent at Linkara's place before the ion storm that sent her to the Satellite of Love. While she wasn't there for the strange Silent Hill curse that Linkara suffered that year, she certainly saw the effects of it. He didn't sleep for a week after that, even when he insisted he was alright now. And then there was the Entity...mister Finevoice said it was around Halloween when Linkara confronted that freak of a glitch.
She frowned slightly at the thought. All of her information on the Entity at this rate was word of mouth. She never actually got to see it, or even get to know all that much about it except from that book Linkara found after the incident with Silent Hill. She wondered if things had changed if she couldn't get back to her home universe. Hell, she wondered if the Entity even got to her own home, to her family. As much as she would bitterly hope that that thing took her brother first, her stomach still clenched at the thought of everybody she knew before Linkara disappearing into the ether.
A shriek in the distance snapped Liz out of her thoughts; 90s Kid and Pinkie Pie were making rounds of sneaking up and scaring some of the kids around the town square. It looked like the festivities for the evening were about to start. Liz looked over at the candy bowl by her door, only a handful of lollipops and some gum left. Maybe if she gets one more round of trick-or-treaters she'd take a break from the serious and get herself a candy apple or two.
